The Possibility of Pakistan Learning from China’s Anti-corruption Governance: Using a Qualitative and Descriptive Research Approach
Abstract
Corruption remains one of the biggest challenges to governance and public trust in developing countries. Pakistan is fighting to control corruption despite establishing the anti-corruption institutions and legal framework. However, China has gained remarkable success in curbing corruption through political will and preventive mechanisms. This study examines the possibilities of Pakistan learning from China’s anti-corruption Governance by using a qualitative and descriptive research approach based on secondary sources. This paper analyses the progress of anti-corruption efforts and similarities and differences in anti-corruption mechanisms in China and Pakistan. This study finds that Pakistan cannot directly adopt China’s model due to differences in the political model and governance structure. However, prioritizing corruption prevention measures, strengthening institutions and promoting ethical education can be adopted in Pakistani context. This study concludes that to curb corruption. Pakistan needs strong political will, institutional independence and public support. Learning from China’s experience is a pathway to improve mechanisms and public participation for long-term development.
