Abstract

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a multifactorial condition with significant physical, psychological, and social implications. Conventional pharmacological therapies, while effective, often present limitations such as adverse effects and contraindications. This study undertakes a comparative clinical evaluation of phytotherapeutic approaches derived from three traditional medical systems—Chinese, Ayurvedic, and Unani medicine. Each system employs distinct herbal formulations and therapeutic philosophies aimed at restoring sexual function and overall vitality. The research involved a cohort of patients diagnosed with ED, who were administered standardized herbal preparations representative of each tradition. Clinical outcomes were assessed using validated measures of erectile function, patient satisfaction, and quality of life. Results demonstrated that all three phytotherapeutic approaches yielded improvements in erectile performance, with variations in onset, sustainability of effect, and tolerability. Chinese medicine emphasized tonification and circulation enhancement, Ayurveda focused on rejuvenation and stress reduction, while Unani therapy highlighted humoral balance and organ strengthening. Comparative analysis suggests that integrative use of these phytotherapeutic strategies may offer a complementary pathway to conventional treatment, providing culturally rooted, holistic options for managing ED. The findings underscore the need for further largescale, controlled trials to validate efficacy, optimize formulations, and explore synergistic potential across traditions.
